On 28.06.2025, a small aircraft Cirrus SR22, registration N67DP, performed a pleasure flight from Petrich Airfield. to LBRS /Ruse/. During the climb to 10 000 ft above Pirin Mountain, the pilot identified engine problems and made a forced landing in a rocky area below Vihren Peak, near Spano Pole. When skidding on the ground it is hit in a large stone and stopped. As a result of the impact, the aircraft sustained significant damage.
The pilot and two passengers left the cockpit and moved to nearby mountain shelter on their own, two of them were minorly injured and the other with serious injuries and was transported by helicopter to a hospital.
